Help Desk Technician

Information Technology Services (ITS) supports numerous units located throughout all campuses at Rutgers New Brunswick for the Office of the Chancellor. The ITS Help Desk is charged with effectively resolving or referring computer-related issues, provide remote and on-site troubleshooting, and training for all supported clients.

  • Willingness to expand customer service and technical skills
  • Good troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Good interpersonal skills and a willingness to learn and help
  • Ability to accurately follow instructions
  • Ability to move equipment
  • Ability to work independently and part of a diverse team
  • Basic knowledge of computer operating systems (Windows, macOS and mobile devices)
  • Basic knowledge of computer software such as MS Office, web browsers, and Adobe
  • Must be an actively enrolled student
  • Minimum GPA requirement: 2.5

Expectations and Responsibilities:

  • Providing courteous and professional phone and in-person computing-related support
  • Arriving promptly and working scheduled hours
  • Assisting with projects or other duties at the discretion of the Help Desk Manager and/or full-time staff
  • Willing to take a proactive approach to respond, call, and resolve issues for our clients and department
  • Perform field work independently and with other technicians
  • Successful completion of training modules
  • Participate in training and continuous learning about systems and software
  • Work minimum 10 hours/week

 

Pay Rate: $12/hour
